Clinton Minor Soccer 2024 Season Update

Our 2024 Registration is now open.

We have been successful in our application to join Elgin Middlesex Soccer Association(EMSA) as an independent club under th Clinton Minor Soccer name.  Our travel teams will be playing out of the Elgin Middlesex District Soccer League(EMDSL) the same as last season.  Besides playing our normal centres of Wingham, Goderich, South Huron and St. Columban,  we will be playing against centres such as St. Marys, Lucan, Grand Bend and Ilderton.

With this new league we have to follow all of Soccer Canada and Ontario Soccer rules.

This means U9 - U12 teams do not keep score or standings throughout the season. U9 plays 5v5, U10-U11 play 7v7 and U12 plays 9v9.  There are also no playoffs.  The season begins with a “festival” in London at the BMO Centre.  Teams play 2-3 games on May 25 or 26.  The season begins the week after this weekend.  Each team will play between 10-12 games into late August.  All games will be scheduled before the beginning of the season, with only cancelled games(due to weather-if any) needing to be rescheduled. There will be a chance to go in tournaments for any teams that are interested.

U13-U18 teams keep score and standings and play 11v11 as normal. However, there are also no playoffs.   Each team will play 12-14 games between mid May to late August.  All games will be scheduled before the beginning of the season, with only cancelled games(due to weather-if any) needing to be rescheduled. There will be a chance to go in tournaments for any teams that are interested.

We will continue to run our House League as normal.  This includes U4, U6 and U8 age groups.  The season will run every Monday night from May 27 to July 29.

Finally, with entrance to this new league we will fall under the Ontario Soccer Guidelines, which means our coaches will need to take an online course and complete a criminal record check(also done online).  It is hard enough to get coaches for teams and it has been our worry that this will make it even harder to find coaches. Without coaches we will not be able to run teams. Clinton Minor Soccer will cover the cost for the online courses.

As always we are in need of members to join our executive.  We are under staffed as it is and will have 2 members leaving the executive at the end of this season.  If you are interested in finding out more about open positions in our executive please make sure to email [email protected] with your interest.

We will be having our Clinton Minor Soccer AGM the last week of January(29-31).  The final date will be confirmed this week and posted on our website.

Thanks,

Craig Caldwell
